DNP Banked Practice Immersion Hours
Student Request & Approval Process
Purpose
This guide explains how AU DNP students can request and use previously completed (banked) Practice Immersion hours. The steps you follow depend on where you completed your MSN program.
Step 1: Determine Your Pathway
Pathway A: AU MSN Graduates
Choose this pathway if you completed your MSN at Aspen University (AU).
Pathway B: MSN Completed at Another Institution
Choose this pathway if you completed your MSN at a different university.
Pathway A: AU MSN Graduates
Step A1: Complete the Banking Hours Request
Step A2: AU Verification (No Action Needed from Student)
- AU will review internal records to verify your previously completed MSN practice hours.
- These hours are reviewed by the Office of Field Experience (OFE) and approved by the School of Nursing & Health Sciences (SONHS) Dean.
Step A3: DNP Program Director Review
- The DNP Program Director (PD) reviews the verified hours.
- If approved, the PD provides formal approval and signature.
Pathway B: MSN Completed at Another Institution
Step B1: Complete the Banking Hours Request
Step B2: Submit Documentation
Submit the fully completed document (Sections 1 and 2) using the AU DNP Banking Hours Request Google Form.
Step B3: DNP Program Director Review
- The DNP Program Director reviews the documentation provided.
- If approved, the PD provides formal approval and signature.
Project Concert Process (All Students)
Once your banked hours request is approved, the steps below apply to both pathways.
Step 1: ProjectConcert Setup
- After approval, the DNP Program Director opens the appropriate Practice Immersion log in ProjectConcert.
- You will receive a Next Steps email with instructions for entering your banked hours.
Step 2: Enter Banked Hours in ProjectConcert
- You have 5 business days to enter your approved banked hours in ProjectConcert.
- Enter only the number of hours that were approved.
Step 3: Final Approval
- The DNP Program Director reviews your submission.
- Once approved, your banked hours are officially applied in ProjectConcert.
Using Approved Banked Hours in Final Practice Immersion Courses
After your banked hours are fully approved:
- You may begin using banked hours during your final Practice Immersion course(s).
- Hours may be logged daily, up to a maximum of 12 hours per day.
How to Log Banked Hours in ProjectConcert
- Create an experience entry in ProjectConcert as usual.
- In the “Specify Other” field at the bottom of the entry, enter: Previously-precepted hours
- Submit the entry for faculty review.
Important Note:
- The hours themselves are already approved in ProjectConcert.
- This entry simply tells faculty that the hours you are logging are being applied as approved banked Practice Immersion hours.
