CJ440 Juvenile Justice
The purpose of this course is to provide students with a solid overview of the juvenile justice system in the United States. It presents the historical background of the U.S. juvenile justice system, its current status, as well as contemporary societal and legal debates. An examination of various policies, programs, and practices is provided throughout the text. The course includes coverage of juvenile law and procedure, juvenile corrections, juvenile delinquency, delinquency prevention, and the future of juvenile justice in the United States. This knowledge will serve you well as a strong foundation for other more specialized courses in juvenile justice and the social sciences.
