Policy: The University values the content expertise, real-world experiences, and teaching ability of all faculty. These qualifications are not only valued but they are expected as basic standards in order to be an effective faculty member at Aspen University. To examine the impact of each faculty's performance, leadership from the School and Faculty Services regularly visit classrooms to complete a joint evaluation of the faculty member's behavior with regard to a set of Faculty Learning Outcomes (FLO). The Classroom Evaluation Rubric (CER) is the instrument used to evaluate the faculty's performance according to a set of six FLOs: Instructional Effectiveness, Active Engagement, Responsiveness, Quality Feedback, Community Development, and Classroom Compliance. The results of the evaluation are used to make decisions about faculty employment, course assignments, remediation for underperformers, promotions, and recognition for those faculty members who meet or exceed the expectations in the classroom. A copy of the CER can be found in the Faculty Handbook.

Purpose: The purpose of this policy is to describe the steps of the core and adjunct faculty performance evaluation process.
